SUP BOARD CARE

MAINTENANCE & CARE

Hey there, SUP Boarders! We get it; nature can be a wild ride, and your gear takes the heat, especially from sun and saltwater. Our boards are built to thrive in the great outdoors, but a little TLC goes a long way when they're not in action.

Your epic epoxy board boasts a beaded foam core wrapped in a tough epoxy fiberglass skin. These cores trap air and gas, and when exposed to blazing sunlight outside of the water, things can heat up real fast. This can lead to gas and air expanding, causing unwanted stress on the epoxy skin and possibly leading to peeling – a phenomenon known as delamination.

THE COOL RULES TO BEAT THE HEAT

  1. Keep your board out of direct sunlight when it's not in use.
  2. Find a shady spot for your board when you're taking a break.
  3. Shield your deck pad from the sun when not in action.
  4. If you must leave your board in the sun, rock a reflective bag.
  5. Board bags are rad, but not for long-term sun exposure – avoid it.

VENT PLUGS

Sometimes, temperature and elevation changes can make your board feel the pressure. Vent plugs are like your board's stress relief valve, allowing air to escape without letting any water sneak in. No delamination, no water damage – just smooth sailing.

PRO TIPS FOR VENT PLUGS

  1. Vent plugs are set-it-and-forget-it – no need to tinker with them.
  2. Give your vent plug a checkup now and then to ensure it's snug and debris-free.

DINGS & WATER WOES FOR EPOXY BOARDS:

Our boards rock a foam core inside a tough epoxy shell. High-impact hits can lead to pressure dents, cracks, and dings – not cool.

Pressure dents are like tiny divots and usually harmless. Cracks and dings, though, can expose your board's core to the elements. Fix 'em up quick to keep your ride solid. Water damage means extra weight and discoloration over time. Don't let it happen – seal those dings! While DIY repair kits exist, we recommend that you visit a local surfboard repair company for a professional job.

If your in Adelaide pay a visit to Leighton Clarke from the Ding King. Leighton and his crew are super friendly and will have you back on the water in no time!

TRANSPORTATION

Getting your board from point A to point B? We've got you covered. We recommend Balin SUP soft racks and straps, but if you're going another route, read those instructions.

Top tips for safe transport:

  1. Use straps made for paddle board hauling.
  2. Pads are your pals to prevent board and vehicle damage.
  3. Don't over-tighten the straps – keep your board happy.

FINS & FIN BOX

Fins are your board's buddies in the water. Keep your fin box clean and screws snug but not too tight. If they're a tight fit, sandpaper can help – your fin box will thank you.

So, go out there and ride the waves, but remember these cool care tips to keep your board in prime condition. Enjoy the adventure! 🏄‍♂️🌞🌊
